In today s world, people use cars to get everywhere. The invention of cars has made the world a lot smaller because now it takes so much less time to travel from place to place. Cars are used by soccer moms to carpool their kids; they are used to deliver mail, get fast food, and drive to the store. Cars come in all different shapes and sizes: there are small cars, and large cars. There are fast cars and slow cars and there are even cars that run on batteries instead of gasoline. Driving a car is an important part of everyday life and if one s car breaks, then they should take it to auto repair which is also called automotive repair.
The first step to driving a car is to get in the car and before even turning it on, adjust the seat and mirrors. It is important for a driver to do these things because if one does not feel comfortable or safe then they could have and accident. Adjusting the rear view mirror helps the driver to see what is directly behind the car, whether it be another car or a stampede of angry deer. The driver should also adjust the side mirrors so that they can see the cars that may be driving next to them. Even with all of the mirrors, there is still a blind spot in one s vision. It is important to try to make the blind spot as small as possible as to avoid an accident.
The next step is to turn the car on. One does this by putting the key in the ignition and turning the key all the way to the right. If one stops turning half way, then only the car battery is turned on and not the engine. Once the car is on, the driver must look around to make sure that there are no other cars, people, or animals in the way and then put the car in reverse to back out of the driveway or parking lot that the car is parked in.
Next the driver must press down on the gas pedal in order to make the car move. Sometimes new drivers mistake the brake pedal for the gas pedal so one should try to avoid this. Also, one must be careful not to press too hard on the gas pedal because this could cause the car to propel to quickly out of the driveway and could result in crashing into another car.
After the car has been straightened out, then the driver must put the car into drive and choose their destination. It is important to buckle one s seat belt so that in case of an accident, the driver and possible passengers are held safely in place instead of being thrown through the windshield. Also, one should never mix drinking with driving because alcohol makes people have a slower reaction time and accidents could be deadly for all parties involved. With that said, one should enjoy the time spent behind the wheel as it can be beneficial and enjoyable.
